synopsis
Giulio Regeni – All the Evil in the World is the first documentary to reconstruct the judicial truth behind the abduction, torture, and murder of the Italian researcher whose body was found near Cairo on February 3, 2016. For the first time, the story is told by his parents, Claudio Regeni and Paola Deffendi—a mother and father who, in their quest for justice, challenged the military dictatorship of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Alongside them is the exclusive testimony of Alessandra Ballerini, the lawyer who assisted the family throughout their long legal battle. In 2023, eight years after Giulio’s disappearance, this relentless pursuit of truth finally led to the trial of four Egyptian National Security agents. Commencing in the spring of 2024, the trial is expected to reach a verdict by the end of 2026.

synopsis
In the woods of Fobbia, Claudio spends his days obsessively carving wood. Years earlier, his son vanished in that very forest. All that was ever found was a red T-shirt beneath a pine tree. Since then, Claudio has been uprooting trunks and shaping them, convinced his son is hidden within. Blurring the line between reality and fable, his story echoes a reversed tale of Pinocchio.

synopsis
A documentary film that is the portrait of a film critic seen by a director. Where contemporary cinema manipulates reality by hiding itself, this experiment manifests its opposite in an explicit and evident way. The critic was asked to be willing to travel to the city of Bergamo and participate in a film experiment lasting 70 minutes: tasting 2 kg of oysters while simultaneously drinking 2 bottles of wine, and answering 15 questions of a cultural nature and 15 solicitations of a private and personal nature. The outcome is a ruinous game in which the sense of filming and the fragility of a human being merge in a melancholy testament.

synopsis
It is 10:12 AM on May 28, 1974: the characters, from the stage of an empty theater, the setting of the story, speak directly to the present day, to those approaching that moment in history, recounting fragments of personal memories, lives that abruptly end at the same moment, in the same place. Tragically. It is always the same minutes that repeat in each person’s different history. These are the minutes before the bomb explodes. The reality of lived experience thus blends with memory. In the end, we always return to 10:12, and the characters leave the technical space to symbolically return to the square. The time of recounting those stories, constantly questioned in the film, surpasses the very time in which their lives were lived.

The accidental discovery of a small box of photographs, taken in 1930s Italian East Africa by a distant relative, sparks a broader reflection on the imperial gaze, its construction of the "other" and the "elsewhere," and its enduring legacy. Through a narrative that weaves together personal reflection and collective history—shared by both colonizer and colonized—this documentary invites viewers to look "beyond the edges" of colonial photography.

synopsis
Elia Moutamid is the director and protagonist of this story. After a few weeks spent in Morocco looking for places and stories for what he wanted to be his next film, Elia returns to Brescia, the city where he lives. The idea was to make a film about urbanization and the territory, without losing the relationships with humans, of course. During the elaboration of what has been observed and in search of the form of his next work, he is blocked by the pandemic that has shocked the whole world. Stuck in the house he starts an autobiographical journey by collecting his reflections. “Kufid” is Elijah’s diary, of his personal and family events told, at times, even with irony: an autobiographical film shot during the pandemic and not a film on the pandemic. A story that comes to terms with a virus that upsets lives, families and old habits but without undermining stereotypes and prejudices, thus leaving unresolved issues pending. To the many questions about the future, an answer: “Inch’Allah”.

synopsis
“Recapitulation” is part of the “Albanian trilogy: A series of Devious Stratagems”. On December 23, 1957, at 11:10 AM, a US Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star aircraft flown by Major Howard J. Curran left Chateauroux, France, heading for Naples, Italy. Above Turin, the aircraft radio failed and after hitting bad weather with strong winds, the plane veered off its flight path to end up, by mistake, in the sovereign airspace of the People’s Republic of Albania. At 1:28 PM, the intruder was intercepted by the Albanian Air Force Command, which instantly ordered two MiG-15 fighter jets to take off and identify it. By 3:50 PM, the fighters reported that they had spotted the intruder in the area around Rinas Airport, flying at 500-650 km/hr at an altitude of 150-200 m. Prompt countermeasures were taken. The airplane was forced to land and, to keep it from taking off again, the airport was locked down.

1959, at the height of the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev visited Albania. Soviet plans to arm Enver Hoxha’s state with submarines and warships, positioning long and medium-range missiles along the Albanian coast, were devised to counter the US missile bases installed in Italy in order to control the Mediterranean. A large number of young Albaniansailors took part in military training under the Soviet army. In 1963, after the break in relations with the USSR, the Albanian navy, in paranoid fear of enemy attack, sighted an object that repeatedly appeared and vanished in the sea off the coast at Patok. Believing it to be a submarine, they fired. The object was in fact a cachalot {Physeter macrocephalus L.. ), the Mediterranean sperm whale. After being recovered, its remains were displayed in the Natural History Museum in Tirana, where it canstill be found.

DOCUMENTARY | 90′ | COLOR | DCP | IN DEVELOPMENT
a film by Rocco Di Mento production 5e6 (ITA) in co-production with Insel Films (DE)
synopsis
With Veleno, Rocco Di Mento concludes his trilogy on human emotions, a cathartic journey that began with The Blunder of Love and continued with Toro. While the previous chapters investigated love and identity, this final installment stems from a physical symptom: the skin on the director's hands cracking—a sign of a suppressed rage that can no longer be contained and is fighting to escape the body. Moving from the support groups of Berlin to the shores of Lake Garda, the film inhabits the thin line between documentary and auto-fiction. At the heart of the narrative lies a secret archive of violent adolescent writings that the director chooses not to hide, but to transform into raw performance material. By involving his brother Mattia in a disturbing mise-en-scène and challenging his mother’s austere discipline through dance, Di Mento turns the film set into the only possible space for a long-denied family dialogue. Amidst vintage television interludes and the stubborn vitality of his centenarian grandmother Attilia, Veleno explores a suspended grief passed down through generations. It is a visual mosaic that does not seek redemption, but rather transforms trauma into a profound act of presence and shared connection.
